Overview
FUSION operates the Severe Winter Weather Shelter at the Pete Andersen FUSION Family Center to provide a safe, warm, and welcoming space for individuals and families experiencing homelessness during periods of extreme cold or hazardous weather.
Shelter activation occurs under the direction of the King County Regional Homelessness Authority (KCRHA) and the City of Federal Way when weather conditions meet severe criteria, such as heavy snowfall, freezing rain, or dangerously low temperatures.
Hours of Operation
Regular Hours: 5:00 PM – 9:00 AM
Extended Hours: Open 24 hours when directed by KCRHA or the City of Federal Way due to ongoing severe weather.
Services Provided
Hot dinner and breakfast served daily
Safe, congregate sleeping areas
Restrooms and hygiene supplies available on site. No shower facilities available.
On-site security for the safety of all guests
Pet-friendly environment (pets must remain in a cage or kennel while indoors)
Shelter Guidelines
To ensure a safe and respectful environment for all guests:
Shelter operates on a first-come, first-served basis
Open to men, women, and families
No background check required; ID may be requested
No drugs, alcohol, or weapons permitted
Personal belongings must be stored outside the building in provided totes
Curfew: Guests may not leave the building after 10:00 PM
