The Pete Andersen FUSION Family Center

The Pete Andersen FUSION Family Center “The Pete” is a vital resource for families experiencing homelessness in South King County. With 90 beds available, The Pete provided emergency shelter to 221 families in 2023, delivering critical support to families in immediate crisis. The cost to house a family for one night is just $88, ensuring that community donations have a direct impact on helping those in need.

Families at the Pete Andersen FUSION Family Center receive more than just a place to stay. Each family collaborates with a professional support services team to create a personalized Family Stability Plan addressing housing, employment, and other essential needs. Weekly meetings with a Housing and Employment Specialist assist with job searches and securing permanent housing. Additional services focus on children’s well-being, with targeted activities, referrals to community resources, and skills development aimed at fostering self-sufficiency for the entire family.

The Pete provides a safe, supportive environment where families can begin to rebuild. It is staffed 24/7 by a team of professionals, and security is always present to ensure the safety of residents. Families share community recreation spaces, use on-site kitchens to prepare their own meals, and have access to self-service laundry facilities on each floor. Youth activities are also available after school to offer enrichment and stability for children.

FUSION’s approach is trauma-informed, recognizing the unique stress and challenges each family faces due to homelessness. The goal is to guide families toward long-term stability through individualized support, tailored to their specific needs and circumstances. By focusing on sustainable outcomes, The Pete works to reduce the number of families experiencing homelessness in the region, while fostering a supportive network of community partnerships that enhance services for the families we serve.

To further aid in transitioning families to permanent housing, the Finally Home Fund provides financial assistance for moving expenses when other community resources are unavailable. This ensures that families have everything they need to succeed as they move toward a more secure future.

At the Pete Andersen FUSION Family Center, we are committed to helping families not only survive a crisis but thrive beyond it, building a foundation for self-sufficiency and long-term success.
