FUSION Housing Team Revitalizes Condo

Housing SVT remodel
The all-volunteer FUSION Housing Transition Team completed its first refurbishment of the year by deep cleaning, repairing and refurnishing a transitional housing unit for a mom, dad and their toddler daughter.

Team members scrubbed and painted walls throughout the two-bedroom, two-bath unit. Others worked on handyman chores to replace bathroom fixtures and window coverings and install new appliances.

Business partners supplied cabinets, counter tops, flooring and some of the labor. Companies contributing materials or in-kind labor include Lennar Seattle, Sound Solid Surface, Caesarstone Northwest, Shaw Floors, and Huntwood.

Donated furniture and household goods provided finishing touches in the renewal of this fully-furnished home. The child’s bedroom was done in vivid pink décor and age-appropriate toys, games and books. Outfitted with dishes and cookware, the kitchen was stocked with food for the first few days — including homemade lasagna dinner prepared by a FUSION Board member.

Taking care to be good neighbors in the community, FUSION also replaced the roof, restored decking, and repaired entrance stairways on the four-unit condo building.

Practicing COVID-19 protocol that calls for wearing masks and no more than four volunteers at a time in the unit, total work time on this home was 275 hours.

FUSION owns and operates 20 transitional homes in Federal Way and Northeast Tacoma.
