Poverty Bay Café Reopening

Poverty Bay Cafe

FUSION programs are expanding with ownership of a popular Federal Way restaurant. Community hub Poverty Bay Café will not only continue serving up its signature coffee and sandwiches, but soon also will provide supported employment development and training in culinary arts and food service.

Paired with FUSION case management for families seeking marketable skills, the Café will offer earn while you learn training for food service jobs. The new venture aligns with the FUSION mission of helping families who are experiencing homelessness work toward self-sufficiency.

Adjacent to the Décor Boutique store, Poverty Bay Café became a FUSION tenant when the building was purchased to house the FUSION upscale retail shop four years ago. Cafe founder-owner Dan Olmstead donated the business and equipment to FUSION in November in support of the unique job skills training program planned for the community.

Proceeds from the restaurant will provide resources to operate and maintain FUSION programs. The café is being renovated and will reopen soon in accordance with COVID-19 guidelines.
